    JOB POSITION ROLE:

    This position will act as team lead for UXO surface clearance teams and dig teams. Duties will include oversight of UXO Technicians II’s and UXO Technicians I, record data related to MEC items encountered and inspect expended ordnance, ordnance related residue and bombing range residue to verify the presence or absence of energetic materials; may also supervise equipment operators and construction laborers during vegetation removal, escort reacquisition teams and geophysical crews,. Other duties may include operate handheld radiation detection instruments to screen range residue for low-level radioactive waste items and conducting explosive demolition of MEC/UXO items recovered. This position will interface with CAPE’s Senior UXO Supervisor (SUXOS), UXO Quality Control supervisor (UXOQCS) and UXO Safety officer (UXOSO) to ensure safe removal and inspection of ordnance items. As team lead you will report to the SUXOS and help ensure productions goals are met to allow CAPE to achieve profit goals and excellent client satisfaction in alignment with the Mission, Vision and Values of CAPE.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Act as team lead and direct UXO surface and subsurface removal crews
    • Identify potential MEC items in the field as they are encountered
    • Escort reacquisition crews, geophysical crews, and vegetation removal crews.
    • Maintain daily logs, operate data loggers, fill in dig sheets, and track progress during removal actions
    • Inspects expended ordnance, ordnance related materials and range residue to verify presence or absence of energetic materials IAW applicable directives and DOD regulations
    • Ensures demilitarization of ordnance, military type vehicles and assorted residue IAW applicable directives and DOD regulations
    • Operates hand held radiation detection instruments to screen range residue for low-level radioactive waste items
    • Operates handheld geophysical equipment and conducts range sweeps to locate surface and subsurface anomalies
    • Identifies unexploded ordnance, fuzes and fuze conditions.
    • Preparation and oversight of intrusive operations to excavate and identify anomalies
    • Preparation and oversight of on-site demolition of munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) and MEC related items
    • Operate IAW approved work plans, and explosives siting plans, oversees the storage, transport, handling and administrative accounting of demolition explosives
    • Continuously communicate with project team, clients and Project Managers
    • Provide technical expertise and technical assistance to staff

    • Maintain administrative efficiency with the timely completion of time sheets and expense reports for assigned projects
    • Ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and ultimate disposition of project information
    • Participate in all required project meetings and training
    • Align staff and self with CAPE’s policies, procedures, culture and values
    • Keep required training, licensing and certifications current
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of all corporate policies and reporting systems
    • Keep an open line of communication with other CAPE staff for multiple aspects of task execution and completion
    • Actively participate in quarterly and annual performance evaluation meetings with Supervisor and direct reports to identify potential areas of professional development as well as deficiencies and plans for improvement

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • Graduate of U.S. Army Bomb Disposal School, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, or U.S. Naval EOD School, Indian Head, MD.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

    • Eight (8) years combined military EOD and civilian contractor UXO experience in all phases of UXO and UXO related operations to ensure compliance with DOD directives and local, state and federal statutes.
    • Experience performing all functions enumerated for UXO Sweep Personnel, UXO Technician I as defined in U.S. Army Engineering Pamphlet EP-1110-1-18, Chapter 20.
    • Five (5) years of experience supervising activities and personnel on ordnance avoidance and investigation, range clearance, hazardous material and waste management project sites
    • Prior military EOD and/or commercial UXO experience in munitions response actions or range clearance activities, as appropriate for the contracted operations
